To be honest, I don't know if they should be expected to have £44m cash sitting around as I don't know enough about the finances of the club other than we've just had £22m cash injection from the sale of Arnie.
Agree though, looking at us and Valencia, I wouldn't blame him for wanted to go to Valencia.
We need to get close to winning something, or make some moves up the table towards the European places. I can't imagine it's easy to bring quality, expensive signings in sitting mid-table year after year without any success in the cups either.

Also have to accept that we offer very little in terms of success at the club. Our ability to win anything over a season whether it's the cup(s), or the league is a poor showing. Different argument I know but still an issue for us to bring in the players.

I don't see the harm in trying. At least we are not going public about it with DG on talkSPORT every week and official announcements about how we are looking to spend £50m on a striker and getting in spats with owners of clubs we are trying to buy players from.
I'm pleased we are trying and that whilst the press are all over it, we are remaining silent until we have done something.
We'll probably end up with Rondon, Hugill and Hernandez but I'd rather we tried and failed than just settled for an average front line now.
